Biography

Mark is currently President of Global Risk Institute and has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry with senior roles at the Bank of Canada and Scotiabank, where he was head of European operations.

As GRI’s President, Mark provides leadership for and oversight of GRI’s operations. GRI’s ability to support our members’ risk management capabilities, and to strengthen risk management practices throughout the financial services industry globally are a primary focus of Mark’s efforts in his role. Mark has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a breadth of experience in leading wholesale finance businesses. Mark was previously the Regional Head of Scotiabank’s European operations. Prior to Scotiabank, he worked in a senior capacity for the Bank of Canada and is a former member of the Monetary Policy Review Committee and the Financial System Review Committee. Mark holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
